I have volunteered in a range of progressive organizations, including the South African Voluntary Services (building rural schools in former homelands Venda, Gazankulu & Lebowa), End Conscription Campaign, South African Council of Churches (tutoring child ex-detainees) and the Students' Teaching and Learning Project (tutoring matric learners). In 1988 I was one of the catalysts that formed Earthlife Africa, an environmental NGO that still exists today, fighting the good fight!
